I was a member of the
IAAP for 8 years while I was in the corporate world and let me tell you what a great network of admin professionals here in Ottawa.
I left the group back in 2005 when I was going on Maternity leave. I had been a member for 8 long years and participated in many workshops, events, training, and annual Admin Professionals conference.
It was really great becasue my employer paid for it :) They paid the annual membership, the montly dinner meetings, and annual conference fees.
This year, I am paying my own way to
FoVA, the Forum on Virtual Assistance. It's coming up in 2 weeks and I am so excited!
The only downfall is now I have to pay for all of these events myself.
Some of my own gifts to myself this year in honor of admin professionals week are:
* I have enrolled in a 6 week coaching program offered through
The VA Coach, Erin Blaskie.
* I have been lucky enough to be part of a focus group for a new training and job centre for Virtual Assitants called
The VA Classroom.
* I will always maintain my
VAinsider Membership at VANA.
* I joined Alliance of Virtual Assistants and have already met VAs I have yet to meet at other places I network online.
* I will be joining in the celebrations for
International Virtual Assistants Day (IVAD).
So, as you can see I love learning and will never pass up the opportunity to enhance and advance my skills, especially now since I have to take care of all aspects of my business myslef.
How are you celebrating admin professionals week 2008?
