This is really funny and great at the same time!
Thanks for the invitation!

I am so happy to see that people are embracing this Virtual Assistant meeting place. Let's try to double our numbers before the end of the year. I am going to start promoting AVA as much as possible and I am looking into adding features.
Tell your VA friends to come and spend some time with AVA.

So you want to become a virtual assistant. You have done your research, written a business plan, and made the decision. Now what?
This is sometimes the hardest question that new virtual assistants face. A lot of new VAs get stuck on this and take a long time to get to the next step.
This is where the VA "Getting Started" Package comes in. We have come up with the ultimate VA "Getting Started" package for just this reason. We do most of the work for you! From the Website right down to the marke…

I remember reading one of those typical glossy teen magazines as a shy, 15 year old girl, and seeing an article about how to get a boy interested in you. Of course, back then, finding a boyfriend and getting him to ask me to “go with” him was one of the MOST IMPORTANT things in my life. Well, that, and finding the brightest, most blinding, neon pink, cut-off sweatshirt, clear jelly shoes, and enough Aqua Net hairspray to make my hair bigger, stiffer and higher than ever before, for our school’s…

Today is Virtual Assistants Day! Make sure to take some time to recognize yourself and other VAs in some way. Maybe you should go out and treat yourself to a cake or something.

Found a great site for the busy Office Professional (such as Office Managers, Executive Assistants, Small Business Owners, Administrative Assistants) who crave interaction with peers and need help with their job but have little or no support within their organizations, OfficeArrow.com is the one-stop destination where they can find information, ask questions, get answers and discuss relevant topics which will enable them to do their jobs better, faster and more efficiently.

I have been so busy lately with work, weddings, and wee ones that I haven't had the time to get to AVA.
I am so glad to see that some of you are really putting your stamp on AVA and making it your own. I really want to encourage everyone to join or start a regional group. It will be a great way to get to know your "neighbours"(Canadian spelling).
I still have not given away the 50 e-books that I wanted to. I am hoping that this will happen soon and then we can start having some contests and sc…

So, I was visiting Naomi Dunford’s blog over at
IttyBiz and she had a great
post a couple of weeks ago about how some of her readers had no idea what she actually did for a living. Basically, she wrote that if people had no idea what she did for a living after reading her blog all this time, they probably didn’t know what they did for a living either. I can’t tell you how many meetings I’ve had with new…

As I scanned through my Google Alerts today, I found not one but TWO blogs about email marketing. According to
Mike Alvero’s blog over at
Internet Marketing Tips, email is not only the most effective marketing tool, but also the most efficient marketing tool for online businesses - when sent to a GOOD, TARGETED list of subscribers. Robert Fleming at the…

Recently I’ve noticed a lot of questions on
LinkedIn and a few other forums about email marketing. The number one question seems to be whether or not it’s a good idea. So, I decided to tackle this somewhat controversial issue myself.
First off, since I am a Virtual Marketing Assistant, I believe email marketing can be very beneficial to small businesses - IF it is done the right way. Heck, I rely on email for 99.9% of my communication with clients and poten…

O.K, I admit, I only heard the term “Virtual Assistant” or “VA” a few months ago. Unbeknownst to me, I’ve actually been a VA for years now without even knowing it. I realize that doesn’t bode well for me with potential clients, but hear me out. Sure, I’ve heard of “freelancers” and “independent contractors”, but a VA? Never heard of it! And neither have a lot of other people either. The term is fairly new. 99% of the time when I tell someone I’m a Virtual Marketing Assistant I get the same quest…

I recently responded to an ad in the local paper to conduct research survey from home. I went to the compny's website and filled out the form for more information. A few days later, I received an envelope in the mail from this company. Inside was a bank draft for $2,500.00, a letter explaining what to do with the bank draft and a customer survey to complete and send back.
I was supposed to cash the bank draft and go to my local Western Union office and send $2,100.00 to a certain person in Onta…

I was a member of the
IAAP for 8 years while I was in the corporate world and let me tell you what a great network of admin professionals here in Ottawa.
I left the group back in 2005 when I was going on Maternity leave. I had been a member for 8 long years and participated in many workshops, events, training, and annual Admin Professionals conference.
It was really great becasue my employer paid for it :) They paid the annual membership, t…

Administrative Professionals Week starts today. It is an international celebration of the hard work and value that administrative professionals bring to the business world. It is celebrated during the last full week in April with Administrative Professionals Day falling on the Wednesday of that week.
Celebrate yourself this week and the accomplishments you have had in the past year. I was thinking of creating a blog hopping tour for this Wednesday. If you woould like to be involved, add a comme…

I REALLY want to reach the 50 member goal by this time tomorrow. How can we get 21 new members in the next 24 hours?
- Invite ALL your VA friends and associates
- Blog about AVA
- Post about AVA in other VA groups you belong to
- Add the AVA badge to your website
I really think we can create quite a community here at AVA and if we all can help out, it will be a great online home for VAs.
