Yvone M. Kon Marketing - it's not all about YOU!

I remember reading one of those typical glossy teen magazines as a shy, 15 year old girl, and seeing an article about how to get a boy interested in you. Of course, back then, finding a boyfriend and getting him to ask me to “go with” him was one of the MOST IMPORTANT things in my life. Well, that, and finding the brightest, most blinding, neon pink, cut-off sweatshirt, clear jelly shoes, and enough Aqua Net hairspray to make my hair bigger, stiffer and higher than ever before, for our school’s… Continue

JamesHill OfficeArrow.com

Found a great site for the busy Office Professional (such as Office Managers, Executive Assistants, Small Business Owners, Administrative Assistants) who crave interaction with peers and need help with their job but have little or no support within their organizations, OfficeArrow.com is the one-stop destination where they can find information, ask questions, get answers and discuss relevant topics which will enable them to do their jobs better, faster and more efficiently. Darrell A. Williams It's Been Too Long!

I have been so busy lately with work, weddings, and wee ones that I haven't had the time to get to AVA. I am so glad to see that some of you are really putting your stamp on AVA and making it your own. I really want to encourage everyone to join or start a regional group. It will be a great way to get to know your "neighbours"(Canadian spelling). I still have not given away the 50 e-books that I wanted to. I am hoping that this will happen soon and then we can start having some contests and sc… Continue

Yvone M. Kon What makes your small business unique?

So, I was visiting Naomi Dunford’s blog over at IttyBiz and she had a great post a couple of weeks ago about how some of her readers had no idea what she actually did for a living. Basically, she wrote that if people had no idea what she did for a living after reading her blog all this time, they probably didn’t know what they did for a living either. I can’t tell you how many meetings I’ve had with new… Continue

Yvone M. Kon Email Marketing - A Follow Up. The Experts Weigh in.

As I scanned through my Google Alerts today, I found not one but TWO blogs about email marketing. According to Mike Alvero’s blog over at Internet Marketing Tips, email is not only the most effective marketing tool, but also the most efficient marketing tool for online businesses - when sent to a GOOD, TARGETED list of subscribers. Robert Fleming at the… Continue

Yvone M. Kon Email newsletter marketing: to send or not to send? That is the question.

Recently I’ve noticed a lot of questions on LinkedIn and a few other forums about email marketing. The number one question seems to be whether or not it’s a good idea. So, I decided to tackle this somewhat controversial issue myself. First off, since I am a Virtual Marketing Assistant, I believe email marketing can be very beneficial to small businesses - IF it is done the right way. Heck, I rely on email for 99.9% of my communication with clients and poten… Continue

Yvone M. Kon What the heck is a Virtual Marketing Assistant, Anyway?

O.K, I admit, I only heard the term “Virtual Assistant” or “VA” a few months ago. Unbeknownst to me, I’ve actually been a VA for years now without even knowing it. I realize that doesn’t bode well for me with potential clients, but hear me out. Sure, I’ve heard of “freelancers” and “independent contractors”, but a VA? Never heard of it! And neither have a lot of other people either. The term is fairly new. 99% of the time when I tell someone I’m a Virtual Marketing Assistant I get the same quest… Continue

Darrell A. Williams Watch Out for This Scam!

I recently responded to an ad in the local paper to conduct research survey from home. I went to the compny's website and filled out the form for more information. A few days later, I received an envelope in the mail from this company. Inside was a bank draft for $2,500.00, a letter explaining what to do with the bank draft and a customer survey to complete and send back. I was supposed to cash the bank draft and go to my local Western Union office and send $2,100.00 to a certain person in Onta… Continue

Frances Palaschuk Administrative Professionals Week; Let's Celebrate!

I had been a member for 8 long years and participated in many workshops, events, training, and annual Admin Professionals conference. Frances Palaschuk Hide and Seek

Well, another benefit of working at home as a virtual assistant... Today, my husband was watching my daughter but I snuck in a break for lunch.. My daughter is only 26 months old and already counts to ten... It was so cute to see her hiding against the wall counting to 10. I decided to teach her to play hide and seek. She thought this was the greatest except everytime I told her to hide and that Mommy will find her she kept running out saying, "here I am Mommy." Who else gets to share a mid d… Continue

Frances Palaschuk Just Another Manic Monday - I Wish It Were Sunday...

Wow, I took the whole weekend off. Well, mostly ~ aside from keeping up with my social networking and taking some new Internet Marketing virtual assistant training courses I had a really low key weekend. This is not common for me and won't happen again for a long time :) Balancing my work life with my 2 year old daughters' schedule does not leave a lot of room for down time. I resigned from my long time, full time position in the corporate world to be able to stay at home with my daughter. N… Continue

Yvone M. Kon My Virtual Cubicle

Taken from M.Y. Blog Working at home has its advantages. It’s been at least three months since I had to buy a new pair of pantyhose. My hair is healthier than it’s ever been since I’m no longer trying to tame it into submission every day with a blowdryer, straightening iron, then a curling iron (crazy, I know, but I actually need both a straightening iron and a curling iron to make my lifeless thin hair look li… Continue

Frances Palaschuk Late Night Networking - it works for me!

I always find myself networking at night. With so many social media channels available it's hard to choose the right ones and find the time to keep your profile fresh. Depending on my mood, and what I wish to talk about and share I visit different groups. Tonight, I received an evite from Ruth to join this group and the email caught me at just the right time so I seized the opportunity and am happy I did - thanks Ruth :) Last evening, I received the press release from Darrell in my Google Re… Continue
